About Yinske

As a small child, I always said, “Let me do it myself.” It just felt right. I couldn’t explain why, I simply KNEW.

Then came school, university and a first job at a big institution, all structures telling me how things were done. I learned a lot there. Later, as a freelancer, I found amazing teachers, including voice teachers, Buddhist monks, coaches and body-oriented practitioners. They made me a good singer, voice teacher, coach and therapist.

And yet something was still missing when life brought its dark side. After I became ill and exhausted for two years, I kept asking myself: can I still trust my body? Can I still trust myself? No teacher could tell me what to do. Through trial and error, I found my own way back, in my own time.

I learned that in every moment I have enough within me to meet life. I can do it myself. I just need my breath and a little time.

Now I want to show you how to do this too.

With warmth,

Yinske Silva
Founder, Voice Meditation®

With over 20 years of practising and teaching voice — as well as coaching, training and giving therapy — I have developed Voice Meditation slowly and with great care. And I am now ready to share it with you.

Questions

You might be wondering...

Not at all. Anyone can start — no prior training needed. Voice Meditation isn’t about hitting the right notes or sounding beautiful — it’s about using your voice as a tool to release tension and access deeper states of relaxation and awareness. There’s no audience and no performance. If you can make sound, you can do this.

That’s the most common thing people worry about, and it’s a fair worry — because most methods are built that way. You follow an instructor, you feel something in the moment, and the moment the class ends, so does the effect. Voice Meditation works differently: it’s not something you experience once and then lose. You build the skill into your body — like learning to ride a bike. Once it’s there, it doesn’t fully go away, even if you stop practicing for a while.

You don’t. You can move, you can sit, lie down or stand, however feels right. And this is actually part of the practice. The only real boundary is that it’s inward-facing — you’re not doing it while driving, for safety reasons. Beyond that, there’s no “correct” way to sit.

The whole point of this method is teaching you to do it yourself, without the constant help of the instructor. All Yinske does is create the context for you to discover this. In the 5-day course, you discover that you can do this. A magical moment. In the 15-day track, you practice it enough that it becomes yours completely. So you are your own guide.

The 5-day track is the discovery, and an important one: you experience, in five minutes a day, that this is something you can actually do. The 15-day track is where that becomes fully yours — you build it into your body step by step, so you no longer need the practice to access it. Same doorway, different depth of walking through it.

You don’t need a cushion, a special mat, incense, or any equipment. All you need is your own voice and a quiet-ish space where you can make sound without feeling watched. Some people like a chair or something comfortable to sit or lie on. Pick what suits you.

No. You don’t need a particular belief system, faith, or spiritual framework to benefit from this. The practice works through the body and the nervous system — the effects are physical and psychological as much as anything else. People from very different backgrounds, spiritual or entirely secular, use it for the same reasons: stress relief, self-regulation, self acceptance, confidence, empowerment and clarity.
